These must be from Target, but I can't say for sure. I absolutely LOVE these earrings. They are very structured but feminine at the same time, and they're light as a feather. And versatile, too.
I'm just not quite sure what to call this metal. Antiqued brass? Oxidized something-or-other? What do you think? (Hint: they're not gold.)

Wish List 1/23/10

#31

I looove these earrings. The findings are all oxidized, so the earrings are essentially chocolate brown from top to bottom. They actually kind of disappear in my hair because my hair is dark brown. Maybe that's why I like them so much. There like little chameleons--you only really notice them if you're paying attention.
From Diwali on Rue de la Huchette in Paris. (I think.)

I bought these in a gift shop at the Grand Canyon last fall.
For years I never wore post earrings. But I've recently mended my ways. Especially when I realized how nice it could be to leave the same pair of understated earrings in for days at a time and not have to worry about them catching in my hair straightener or getting tangled in my hair.
Every style of earrings has its benefits. That's the benefit I can see in post earrings. It mostly negates how annoying they can be if they poke you in the very sensitive skin behind your earlobes.

I secretly (okay, not secretly) love getting earrings as gifts, because people give me earrings I would never have found or picked out myself, and I always end up loving them.
Case in point:
My lovely and talented sister Amy gave these to me for Christmas. Aren't they awesome? I probably wouldn't have paid much attention to these because the findings are gold, but that's really secondary, because it's the pearl and the circular white 'facets' that stand out.

These crazies are from Target. Not recently, though.

I love the brown and turquoise together.

These lovelies were given to me by my best friend two summers ago. These are the inspirational pieces I referred to in this post.

It May or May Not Be True...

... that I own earrings that I hate to wear.

Some are heavy, so they come out of my ears quickly. (Love the look, don't love the feel.)

Some just don't seem to go with very many things (so, it's not really that I hate wearing them, they're just 'difficult' to wear).

Some are incredibly cute in theory, but quite grotesque in practice because the color of the earrings clashes with the color of my skin/hair/being (okay, maybe I'm thinking of a specific pair. Still, the principle holds true, right?)

So I wear those on the days I know I will be seeing the smallest number of people.

I bought these earrings several years ago at the Adopt a Native Elder rug auction and jewelry sale in Park City. I have purchased several pairs of earrings there over the years because it's a family tradition to attend. (And then we hit the outlets.)

I honestly don't know where I got these earrings. They are pretty basic, silver spheres.

#19

I made these. They were inspired by a pair of earrings given to me a couple of years ago.

I bought these earrings at Kazana in Paris.
(And while wearing them once, a French man told me that no French woman would ever wear them, so he should have realized before we started talking that I was a foreigner. Hm. Classy.)

I really love these earrings. Everything about them. The colors are great, the construction is fun, and they can dress up or down. I think they're great to pair with some jeans, heels, and a simple black top.

These are also from Target. I tend to wear these with casual outfits more than anything. I think it might have something to do with they way they're constucted, which gives them an almost industrial feel.

These earrings are fantastic, because they are so versatile. They can go casual, and they can play dress-up. The picure above doesn't give the full effect of the multiple hoops, so I tried to show a better view below. That's what they tend to look like when they're actually being worn.

I believe I bought these at Target, most likely in 2008.

Weekly Wish List - 1/7/10

Every week I'm going to post a few pairs of earrings that I want to add to my collection.

Today, two distinctly different pairs of earrings.

Silver Swirl earrings by strungoutdesigns. These are sold, but the earrings in the shop are all beautiful, with prices ranging from $18 to $24.

You like?

I have no idea where I got these, but I love them. They are feminine but simple. Again, with them being purple and pink, they don't get worn as often as some other earrings I own, but I'm glad I have them.

I got these in Rome in the summer of 2007.

I bought these earrings in Paris, too, at a store called Diwali. There are several locations throughout the city, all in highly tourist-y areas. I always found myself drawn into the store because it was so colorful in the world of beige, grey, black, and white that is Paris.

These colorful hoops were a gift from my mother. But I happen to know she bought them at the BYU MOA. Aren't they great? I love how colorful they are.

I got these from a street vendor in San Francisco last January. I love that the bottom spheres have a design carved into them. It's really subtle, so unless someone is really in my personal space they won't notice it. I think it's a nice little detail regardless.

I honestly don't remember where I got these, but I really like them. I tend to wear them with dresses and skirts, but they would be really cute with almost anything from jeans and a sweater to a more formal dress.

#8

I bought these in Paris (I think), and they came in a set with at least one other pair. I bought them because most of my earrings are silver, and I wanted something that was a little warmer to put in the rotation every now and again.

#7

I got these at Kazana, as well. I think they were 3 Euro. Looking at them now, I'm curious why the beads only go halfway up the pin. But I kind of like the effect. It makes the pin more a part of the earring design itself, rather than just having a hidden supporting role.

#6

I believe these earrings are from Target, but I can't remember. I like the pairing of the soft pink teardrops with the darker, less feminine chain that connects them to the earwires.
